  1. Andy Smith (verified owner)

Very grippy (just barely tacky), flexible rubber with a modern, large-pored sponge. Spin is very good and the moderate, predictable catapult makes it easy to steadily build up pressure during rallies. The medium speed and relatively spin insensitive topsheet helps a lot when blocking or on the defensive. An excellent, all-round option – a step up from classics like Sriver without being overly demanding like a modern high tension rubber.

  2. Nick Howard

The Venus 3.0 is the closest thing to a modern day tensor rubber from Yinhe that I’ve used.

It’s a slightly harder sponge than your usual ESN rubbers (barely), and the top sheet is very similar (not very tacky at all).

If you are used to European rubbers, there will be almost no adjustment needed. It’s not as quick as your Tenergies, but it’s fast none the less, and as quick as you’d need when attacking.

Loops offer a good amount of spin, and allow you to play out of position, unlike your traditional Chinese rubbers which will punish you for bad footwork.

You can pair Venus on the forehand or backhand, and you’ll find it offers excellent properties for players looking to play a looping game on both wings.

Blocking is also very good, with the medium sponge absorbing the incoming loops very nicely, giving a “muted” feel on the bat (compared with a very distinctive hard feel when using harder sponges).

I’d suggest this rubber is for someone looking for an alternative to Butterfly/Tibhar at a fraction of the cost, for 99% of the performance.
